Privacy Policy

Last updated: 14 June 2026

Sambhaal is a WhatsApp-based concierge service that helps families care for elderly relatives in Punjab, India. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. We keep it in plain language on purpose.

1. Who this applies to

This policy covers two groups: the account holder (usually a family member living abroad who signs up and receives updates) and the cared-for relative in Punjab who messages us on WhatsApp. Where we describe "you," we mean whichever of you is interacting with us.

2. Information we collect

We do not ask for, and you should never send us over WhatsApp, OTPs, banking passwords, or card PINs. If someone is asking your relative for these, that is exactly the kind of scam we help you catch.

3. How we use your information

4. Automated processing and human review

To handle Punjabi voice notes quickly, we use automated tools to transcribe and translate speech and to screen messages for likely scams or urgent safety issues. These automated steps help us respond faster — but a real person handles the help you receive, and important matters are reviewed by a human. Automated screening assists our team; it does not make final decisions about your account on its own.

5. Who we share information with

We do not sell your information. We share it only as needed to run the service, with providers who act on our instructions:

We may also disclose information if required by law, or to protect the safety of a person (for example, in a genuine emergency).

6. WhatsApp

We communicate with you through WhatsApp, which is operated by Meta. Your use of WhatsApp is also governed by WhatsApp's own privacy policy and terms. Messages on WhatsApp are encrypted in transit by WhatsApp; once a message reaches our business account, it is handled under this policy.

7. How long we keep information

We keep your information for as long as you use Sambhaal and for a reasonable period afterwards to meet legal, accounting, and safety obligations. You can ask us to delete your information at any time (see "Your choices and rights").

8. How we protect information

We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your information, including access controls and encryption in transit. No service can promise perfect security, but we work to keep your data safe and limit who can access it.

9. International transfers

Sambhaal serves families across borders, so your information may be processed in India and in other countries where we or our providers operate. Where we transfer information internationally, we take steps to ensure it remains protected.

10. Your choices and rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, or delete your information, to object to or limit certain processing, and to withdraw consent. To exercise any of these, contact us using the details below and we will respond within a reasonable time. You can stop using the service at any time, and you can tell your relative to stop messaging us.

11. Children

Sambhaal is intended for adults. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect information from children.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the service evolves. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, let you know on WhatsApp.
